    Cliffs of Moher

Up early, I walked up the road for coffee before heading south. Fun fact, the feature image from the Galway post was actually taken today, and not yesterday. I knew where the yellow and blue houses were and made sure I got a good photos of them.

I left the maps on ‘avoid tolls’ – I wasn’t sure it was going to add much time to the drive, or how to pay the tolls at this point, so it just became a thing that I would avoid all tolls. I headed south following the coast before turning slightly inland and heading higher. I passed through The Burren with its limestone hills and stopped to enjoy the view, in both directions, down the valley and up into the hills.

My hotel was a little way from the city centre so I enjoyed a ~20min walk into town looking for coffee. There were quite a few interesting houses along the main road, and a wonderful bluestone wall.

    Dublin to Galway

When I was planning my short trip in Ireland I was worried about how much driving I would be doing by myself, and how long it would take me to get around the different parts I wanted to see. Getting to Dublin

It’s a long way from Canberra to most places. Dublin is no exception. In fact I think it’s the second furthest I’ve traveled in a single block, the longest being Melbourne to Iceland.

Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, London, a brisk walk in shorts and a t-shirt between terminals, Dublin.

When I first booked tickets over 12 months ago it was the usual Canberra to Sydney to Singapore to London. Over the course of the next 12 months Qantas made something like 8 changes to my tickets – usually just a change in flight number at the same time between Sydney and Canberra on the return leg, then at some point they changed it completely from via Singapore to ‘direct’ via Perth.
