    Going for a drive

    I am not sure why, but for some reason there were basically no rental cars available in Trondheim. I rang at least 3 places who all said they were booked out before getting a call back from the rental place attached to the hotel I was staying at. They managed to find me a car as long as I was able to pick up and return it on the same day. Not a problem, I just want to go out and back in a day.

    Aussie Blog – Temora

    While I am still working my way through the last two (or three) countries in my SweetChilly blogs, I wanted to take the time to post some photos from a couple of weekends away I’ve managed this year. I was supposed to have been to Canada and Japan this year, those trips will have to wait for now.

    I hadn’t taken any leave since early January, and it was really nice to have just one night away during a long weekend, and to head out with the sole purpose of taking photos and enjoying the scenery.

    Back in Helsinki

    After flying back from Oulu to Helsinki I had a couple of days to get some washing done at my favourite coin laundry, and get some more photos around Helsinki before my flight to Stockholm.

    On the first day I got up fairly early and walked in the general direction of sea, passing the Cathedral and the Senate Square, before spotting the first of the sunrise.

    Oulu – A winter wonderland

    Oulu, I still have no idea how to pronounce it, is an interesting place. A colleague at work who had spent some time in Finland would keep correcting me.

    “Oulu?”
    “Oulu”
    “Oulu?”
    “Oulu”

    The easiest way to get around Finland in winter is to fly. Unlike more southern airports, Finnish airports don’t close if there is snow, like everything else the infrastructure is built to handle it. I had a short flight from Helsinki to Oulu, and probably spent more time in the taxi and waiting at the gate that I did actually in the air.
